Children's Graphic novel

When Ingrid’s brother Oskar vanishes into the forest, she sets out to find him—only to discover he has unfortunately passed away - memorialised within the bark of a tree. With the help of a new friend, she must learn to understand her grief. This graphic novel explores themes of grief and acceptance, transformation and the cycle of life, sibling love and letting go.

Art has always been a way of self-expression and escapism for me. Due to my current love for trolls and desire to tell a story that speaks to both children and adults, i was moved by the idea of using fantasy as a tool to explore real emotional journeys - in this case grief and a childs ability to process such strong emotions.

For this project, I primarily used digital media such as Photoshop and Adobe Fresco. I focused on replicating the textures of traditional materials—particularly watercolour and pencil—through careful brush selection and layering techniques. I’m naturally drawn to grungy, desaturated colour palettes, and leaned into that aesthetic to create a moody and atmospheric tone. My visual inspirations included swampy, murky environments and mystical forest settings.
